Scientists have figured out how to predict the risk of developing leukemia in a blood test.

A team of scientists from the University of Edinburgh and the University of Glasgow has found that mutations that occur during blood reproduction can predict the risk of developing leukemia. They talked about it in a magazine article. nature medicine.

As a rule, an imbalance in the reproduction of blood cells leads to leukemia. As we age, the circulatory system can become damaged, causing the body to produce altered cells that cause blood cancer.

To measure the risk of developing leukemia, the researchers trained the AI on various variations of genome data that scientists had collected over 12 years from 83 people over the age of 70. As a result of the experiment, the experts were able to evaluate the behavior of blood cells in the future using machine learning algorithms. Therefore, a similar method for studying mutations will enable scientists to predict other diseases in the future.
