00:18 A rare open heart surgery was performed on a 73-year-old Russian woman at the Tyumen Regional Clinical Hospital.

An elderly woman underwent her third open-heart surgery to remove a blood clot. This was reported by megatyumen.ru.

In the first surgery, doctors managed to save the heart valve; In the second surgery, a biological prosthesis was replaced. The woman then needed a third surgery, this time to remove the blood clot. There were about 20 such cases in world practice, and many centers in Russia refused to perform surgical intervention on the patient due to the high risk.

Doctors at the Tyumen Regional Clinical Hospital No. 1 decided to take an unconventional path and operate through a right-sided approach. The operation took about three hours.
