The successful launch of the Angara-A5 heavy class rocket marks the beginning of the era of active use of new generation heavy vehicles. This view was expressed in an interview Tsargrad.tv said Nathan Eismont, a leading researcher at the Institute for Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He noted that the rocket itself had been tested before, but the launch pad where the launch took place was new.
“Previously, this rocket had been successfully launched three times from Plesetsk. However, Plesetsk is an area that was not originally designed for civilian use of heavy carriers. A different launch pad was needed for this. Now it’s built, tested, everything works great,” Eismont said.
He added that it is now possible to carry out the space program without risk by actively using the Vostochny test site during the launch of heavy-class rockets.
“The launch of Angara-A5 is a solution to the problems 10 years from now. “This is a serious success and success for us,” he concluded.
On April 11, Angara-A5 took off from the Vostochny Cosmodrome for the first time, placing the small spacecraft Gagarinets into orbit. The launch was initially planned for April 9 but was postponed twice due to technical reasons. “It was a difficult three days,” admitted Yuri Borisov, head of Roscosmos. According to him, there is nothing unusual in delaying the flight because “the rocket has not yet reached the required level of readiness.” More details in the material “socialbites.ca”.
