People who eat lots of fruits and vegetables are more likely to be social, open-minded, resourceful and understanding. In this respect reports Daily Mail publication, citing a study by scientists from the University of Otago (New Zealand).
During the research, scientists analyzed the eating habits of more than a thousand young people aged 17 to 25 using special surveys. The researchers also asked participants to take a test called the Big Five Personality Traits. It measures the extent to which a person has openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion (or introversion), agreeableness, and neuroticism (decreased ability to regulate negative emotions).
The results showed that subjects characterized by openness and extraversion (as well as resourcefulness and insight) ate about 4.5 more servings of fruits and vegetables per week than their more introverted peers. They also consumed less unhealthy foods, such as chips and fast food.
The study authors suggested that openness and a thirst for new experiences may encourage some people to try new fruits and vegetables and try recipes they didn’t initially like.
Previously was named The healthiest fruit.
