The Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Garrison Court sentenced a soldier who left his place of duty without permission to 8 years in a general regime correctional colony. This was reported by press service authorities.
A lawsuit was initiated against the man under Part 5 of Art. 337 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (unauthorized abandonment of a unit or place of service).
According to the court, on February 26, 2023, the Russian voluntarily left the location of the military unit in the Donetsk People’s Republic and went to his home on Sakhalin. He reached the permanent deployment point of his military unit only on February 6, 2024.
The decision has not yet entered into force and can be appealed.
