Citizens of the Russian Federation know the origins of Cosmonautics Day quite well – 85% associate it with the first manned flight into space. This is demonstrated by the Feedback study, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
Only 7% think that this day was the first satellite launch in the USSR. The remaining 8% of the answers were evenly distributed between the “First man’s landing on the Moon” and “The dogs Belka and Strelka were launched into Earth orbit” versions.
The main associations Russians make when thinking of Cosmonautics Day are Yuri Gagarin (91%), pride (55%) and “Let’s go!” sentence comes. (47%). Survey participants could name several associations. It is important that there is no person who cannot remember a single event.

According to 61% of respondents, the space industry in Russia needs to be financed for its further development and gaining reputation in the international arena. Another 21% think current funding is sufficient. The remaining 8% were unable to assess the level of funding available for astronautics and had difficulty responding.
When asked about recent world events in the space sector, 71% of survey participants remembered that Russia was the first country in history to shoot a movie in space. At this point, participants can select several options. Thus, Elon Musk’s space projects received 49 percent of the votes, China’s space station 33 percent, and India’s lunar landing 31 percent.
Russians are also aware of the launch of new Earth observation satellites to monitor climate change (31%), the launch of a NASA rover on the surface of Mars (28%) and the discovery of the oldest black hole (14%). And 8% answered, “I am not interested in explorations on the subject.”
At the same time, not everyone has watched the aforementioned movie “The Challenge”: 52% of respondents said they had never watched it; 18% went to the cinema and mostly rated the movie positively; Only one percent disliked the movie. 13% of respondents reported watching “The Challenge” online and finding it interesting; 5% of those who watched the movie online did not rate the movie.
12% watched the film on television; In this category, 8% gave the film a positive review.
49% of respondents responded positively to the potential to fly into space. At the same time, 47% admitted that they do not follow events in the space sector. But the Cosmonautics Day holiday is still important enough to tell your kids about; 76% of survey respondents agree with this.
