Moscow Gagarinsky Court detained Telesport Group CEO Pyotr Makarenko in a fraud case. This was reported by TASS said the court’s press service.
“The request of the preliminary investigation authorities to choose preventive measures against the general director of Telesport Group LLC Pyotr Vladimirovich Makarenko in the form of house arrest for a period of 30 days was accepted,” the statement said.
The press service noted that Makarenko was charged under the article “Fraud on a particularly large scale.” He faces up to 10 years in prison.
JSC TeleSport Group is the largest operator in the field of sports marketing in the Russian Federation. The company is interested in attracting sponsors to federations and championships in various sports in the Russian Federation and other countries. Telesport Group is also one of the owners of the rights to broadcast sports events.
