Abnormally cold weather is expected in some regions of Russia in the coming days, with air temperatures 5-13 °C below long-term values. Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation, warned about this. TASS.
According to the expert, we are talking about a number of regions of the Northwestern and Far Eastern federal districts. In addition, residents of the Urals and Siberia need to be prepared for cold weather.
“In the Northwest Federal District, from April 3 to April 6, in the Arkhangelsk region, there will be abnormally low temperatures, temperatures will be 7-9 °C below normal, and frosts will reach 20-21 °C,” the meteorologist said.
He added that thermometers in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug will show temperatures between -17 °C and -25 °C. In the Komi Republic, the temperature can drop to -25 °C.
Residents of the Murmansk region and the Republic of Karelia will experience cold temperatures of up to -23 °C and -18 °C, respectively, in the period from April 3 to April 7. Vilfand added that the deviation from normal values will be 6-11 °C.
Frost is expected in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) in the Urals. Here, in the period between 3-6 April, the air temperature will be between -25 °C and -28 °C, which will be 8-13 °C below standard values.
In Siberia, residents of the Irkutsk region and the Taimyr Peninsula will face cold weather, with thermometers showing -23 °C and -32 °C respectively. In the north of Yakutia, located in the Far Eastern Federal District, the air temperature will drop to -33 °C. As the forecaster said, the deviation from the norm in this region will be 5-9 °C.
