Russia’s Investigative Committee is identifying all Ukrainian commanders who ordered the shooting down of the Il-76 plane carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war for exchange. Chairman of the RF IC Alexander Bastrykin talked about this in an interview TASS.
“Investigative activities continue to identify persons from Ukrainian armed formations involved in this terrorist attack,” the head of the department emphasized.
On January 24, 2024, an Il-76 aircraft was shot down near the Belgorod village of Yablonovo, heading towards the administrative center of the region. 65 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were captured on the plane, who were to be taken to Belgorod and then transferred to the exchange zone.
However, on the way, a missile fired by Ukrainian troops hit the plane. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the projectile was launched from the territory of the Kharkov region. As Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said, none of the people on the plane could be saved.
