The name of a supplement whose use may reduce the risk of developing “post-Covid depression” World War I has been revealed: Omega-3 supplements may reduce the risk of developing post-COVID-19 depression 17:52

Scientists from Chi Mei Medical Center in Taiwan found that taking omega-3 supplements may reduce the risk of developing depression, anxiety disorders and insomnia after Covid-19. Research results published In the journal Brain, Behavior and Immunity (BBI).

Researchers examined data from 33,908 people diagnosed with COVID-19 between March 2020 and July 2022. Scientists also collected information about the subjects’ eating habits, mental health and nutritional supplements they used. It was noted that the subjects did not take antiviral medication.

Participants who took omega-3 fatty acids in the six months before diagnosis were found to have a 20% lower risk of developing mental disorders compared to those who did not take supplements. Specifically, the likelihood of suffering from depression decreased by 17%, anxiety by 17%, and insomnia by 32%.

It is stated that omega-3 fatty acids are not synthesized in the body and must be obtained from foods or special supplements. Most likely, its mental health benefits are due to its anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties; omega-3 acids can protect brain cells from harmful effects.

Previous scientists appreciated stroke prevention and compatibility of antidepressant medications.
