The Hungarian Food Control Authority is eliminating genetically modified corn seeds illegally imported from Ukraine. This was announced by Hungarian Minister of Agriculture Istvan Nagy. TASS.
The head of the department announced that inspectors seized approximately 40 tons of seeds from circulation. A lawsuit has already been filed against the distribution company.
“The seeds will be destroyed in accordance with the law,” Nagy said.
He emphasized that Hungarian authorities advocate that agricultural products imported from third countries comply with EU standards.
The minister stated that Hungary will maintain the national ban on grain imports from Ukraine until a similar international solution is reached.
