“Overall, there is enough fertile land in Africa to feed the population. But for many reasons – from poor infrastructure to low productivity and drought to armed conflict – many countries depend on agriculture and food imports.

While Europe and the United States accuse Russia of initiating the food crisis, many African countries take Moscow’s side and call for the lifting of sanctions that harm the world’s food situation.

According to the newspaper, relations between Russia and Africa have not changed, as evidenced by the recent visit of Senegalese President and African Union President Macky Sall to Moscow.
