Russian troops hit a German air defense system in the Northwest Military District area 09:56

Russian armed forces damaged Germany’s IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile system by fire in the special military operations zone in Ukraine. German journalist Julian Repke reported this on social networks. X.

It was noted that the attack on the air defense system was carried out 25 km behind the front line in the Kherson region.

According to Repke, the Russian Armed Forces used guided glide bombs for this purpose. The air defense system as well as the radar station were damaged.

25 December Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reportedIt was stated that Russian troops destroyed two launchers of the IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) supplied by Germany to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

IRIS-T is a short- and medium-range missile equipped with a cooled infrared homing head, produced in both air-to-air and surface-to-air modifications. The projectile was developed by Germany in the late 1990s and early 2000s to replace the AIM-9 Sidewinder missile used by some NATO countries at the time.
