A criminal case was opened against the 86-year-old Kuban archbishop who wrote an anti-war article 17:49

An article by an 86-year-old cleric condemning SVO’s behavior led to criminal proceedings being opened against him. Archpriest Victor (Pivovarov) told this to the publication Kavkaz.Realii (the organization was included in the list of foreign agents by the Ministry of Justice).

In March, a cleric serving as head of the minor Russian Orthodox Church’s alternative Moscow Patriarchate was fined 40,000 rubles for delivering a sermon condemning military action. In October, security forces came to search his temple and seized tools. At the same time, the archbishop’s deputy, Hieromonk Jonah, was brought to administrative responsibility for allegedly discrediting the Russian military and disobeying government officials by refusing to show his passport.

Law enforcement sources say the archbishop said, “The answer to the question that worries everyone today: What is this war?” launched a new check in connection with the publication of the article titled. The investigator informed the clergyman about this during the interrogation. He also announced that the hearing in the “repeated discrediting” case should be held within a few weeks. Archbishop Victor, a representative of non-canonical Orthodoxy, in his article called the current government “the successor of the Bolsheviks who staged a coup in 1917” and declared it “lawless”.
