Skin creams found to cause bone problems DailyMail: Eczema ointments increase risk of bone fractures 11:19

Creams used to combat skin conditions such as eczema significantly increase the risk of developing osteoporosis, which causes bones to become brittle. This I learned Scientists from Taiwan University shared their results with the DailyMail news portal.

The authors examined the medical records of 8,000 patients. It found that people who used corticosteroid creams and ointments, which narrow blood vessels and reduce inflammation, had an increased risk of osteoporosis and fractures within five years of using the drugs.

Those taking the highest doses had a 34% higher risk of developing the disease, but even those taking the lowest doses had a 22% increased risk. It also turned out that women are more sensitive to problems than men.

Although highly effective and extremely safe, corticosteroids are intended for short-term use because they can cause serious side effects if used incorrectly. Medications can affect calcium and vitamin D levels in the body. This leads to bone loss, osteoporosis and bone fractures.

The authors of the study called for such ointments and creams not to be used without a doctor’s prescription and to strictly follow the recommendations for use.

Previous scientists discovered A simple drug that could replace opioids for cancer.
