Former Economy Minister of Kazakhstan Bishimbayev was arrested on suspicion of killing his wife 00:40

Former Economy Minister of Kazakhstan Kuandyk Bishimbayev, who was previously detained by the court for two months, is suspected of killing his wife Saltanat Nukenova. The portal reports this, citing a source in law enforcement agencies. Orda.kz.

According to information obtained, a fight broke out between Bishimbayev and Nukenova in one of the restaurants in Astana, in which the former minister severely beat his wife. The woman died as a result of her injuries.

Bishimbayev’s cousin, who was at the scene, said there was an opportunity to save Nukenova, but the former minister prevented her from being helped.

Kuandyk Bishimbayev served as Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan from May to December 2016. In 2018, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for bribery and property theft. A year and a half later, Bishimbayev was released from prison by the decision of the Shymkent court on conditional release.
