Putin dismisses five generals and a police colonel

Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed five generals and a police colonel. This is stated in an excerpt from the head of state’s decree, according to RBC reports.

Chief of the Department of the Vladimir Region of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Major General of Police Vasily Kukushkin, was dismissed. He turned 64 this year. Before heading the department, Kukushkin served in the Ryazan law enforcement agency.

From 2003 to 2004 he was the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Ingushetia, then he became the head of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kostroma region and was the head of the police force. Republic of Karelia.

RBC’s source described the resignation as “normal staff rotation”. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also linked the decree on the resignation of the generals and colonel with the personnel change.

The presidential press secretary commented on “Rotation” in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In November 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin also signed a law allowing the service life of colonel generals and admirals to be extended to 70 years.
