The Ukrainian Navy did not confirm the information that the Turkish bulk carrier Kafkametler exploded as a result of a mine explosion off the coast of Romania in the Black Sea. According to the Ukrainian portal TSN.ua, this was stated by the official representative of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmitry Pletenchuk.
“Such information was conveyed <...> and we do not approve of it. <...> “There was no explosion, the information is not correct,” he said.
Pletenchuk noted that “everything was inspected” and no damage was found.
Previously, Reuters reported, based on its own sources, that on October 5, the Turkish cargo ship Kafkametler hit a mine in the Black Sea and suffered minor damage.
According to media reports, the ship anchored after the explosion to assess the damage and continued on its way a few hours later. It was stated that no one was injured.
