A British woman suffering from “sleeping beauty syndrome” sleeps 20 hours a day for up to two consecutive weeks Mirror.
Bella Andreu from Newcastle has been living with Kleine-Levin syndrome, also called “sleeping beauty syndrome”, since 2016 and often sleeps on holidays, concerts and other events when she comes alone or with friends. According to the British woman, she has already lost nearly a year of her life because of this.
“I knew something was wrong with me, which my parents described as: “The lights are on but there is no one home,” Andreu recalls.
Sometimes Bella’s condition worsens and she can sleep 20 hours a day for about two weeks. After this, as the woman admits, her mind is in a fog and she feels as if she woke up with a severe hangover.
Kleine-Levin syndrome also prevented Bella from getting an education and spending more time with her friends. There is currently no medication to help the British woman get back to normal.
