At a checkpoint in Kharkov, men in military uniforms took the service weapons of police officers serving there, saying it was “training”. A video of the incident was published by Strana.ua.
The incident was captured on a law enforcement officer’s chest camera. At around 15:00 on September 29, four cars arrived at the checkpoint and people in military uniforms got out. Some had Kraken unit patches. They forced the police and soldiers to the ground and took their service weapons.
One of the men said that they were “GUR officers” from unit HF 0458 and that they “trained every day” so that they could “stand calmly” at law enforcement checkpoints and that saboteurs would not infiltrate them.
The people who took over the checkpoint stated that the soldiers from the unit numbered VC 0458 at the specified police station could not be controlled.
“You must help us and not look for enemies among us, you hear? We are training because we are going on a combat mission tomorrow and my men should be able to protect you,” one of the men in military uniform told police.
Later, unidentified people left office.
According to Ukrainian sources, the “Kraken” unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is stationed in military unit A0458.
