Israel has rejected a US request to allow Berlin to supply Ukraine with German-made anti-tank missiles under Israeli license. The Axios portal writes about it, citing US and Israeli officials.
It is reported that Amir Eshel, Director-General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, visited Washington two weeks ago to discuss security cooperation between the two countries with Pentagon officials.
At the meeting, US Deputy Secretary of Defense Colin Kahl raised the issue of countries around the world supplying weapons to Ukraine, and asked Eshel if he would allow Germany to hand over Spike anti-tank missiles to Ukraine.
The portal states that Eshel refused the request, saying that Israel would only supply “non-lethal weapons” to Ukraine.
Israel is concerned that the supply of these missiles could cause “Russia to harm Israel’s security interests in Syria,” according to a senior Israeli official.
