The bearded vulture consolidates its presence in the Valencian Community. There are nine examples that have been successfully recovered from the province of Castellón, with the recent release of two specimens. Species throughout Spain have grown from just 30 specimens a few decades ago to over a thousand now.

Tinença de Benifassà Natural Park in Castellón received two new specimens this week. Bearded vulture cubs from breeding centers in Guadalentín and Haringsee (Austria) in Andalusia, in the framework of the actions of this species’ resettlement project in Maestrazgo.

The publication took place in the hamlet of Bel in Castellón with the participation of Julio Gómez, general manager of Natural Environment and Environmental Assessment, whose General Directorate has been redefining the ‘Welcome Back, Crebalòs’ project since 2018.

Generalitat Valenciana, in collaboration with the Government of Aragon, the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Foundation for Demographic Control and Vulture Conservation (VCF), is running this relocation program to bring this symbolic bird back for the Valencian Community. ).
