The house was sold in 1922 when the family fortune collapsed as a result of the Russian revolution. Since then it has mutated according to its owners and time: the shelter became a hospital, private school and a rentable venue for weddings during World War II.
Ever since Bob Dylan bought the Aultmore House, the mansion has been three cottages open to tourists and events for £900 per week. The mansion is located 13 miles from Aviemore, at the end of a private road through woods northeast of Nethy Bridge and covers more than 100,000 square feet of land, including private gardens.
