Victor Bout wants to be traded for American athlete Brittney Griner

Russian Viktor Bout, who was convicted of illegal arms smuggling in the USA, can be exchanged for American basketball player Brittney Griner, who was detained in Moscow for drug trafficking.

“Now Greiner is in one of the pre-trial detention centers in the Moscow region. The interlocutor of socialbites.ca at the Public Monitoring Commission of the Moscow Region (POC), employees of the Federal Prison Service, had preliminary discussions with him on a possible exchange for Viktor Bout, ”said the interlocutor of socialbites.ca.

In response, socialbites.ca’s source at the Federal Penitentiary Service said, “The decision to trade Bout for Greiner is one of the possible, but extremely likely.”

Viktor Bout was arrested in Thailand on March 6, 2008 and subsequently extradited to the United States. The American court found Russia guilty of conspiring to sell weapons to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), which the US authorities consider a terrorist organization. Bout pleaded not guilty and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Brittney Greiner was detained at Sheremetyevo Airport in February 2022 for carrying poppy oil and electronic cigarettes. She became a two-time Olympic champion and played for Yekaterinburg club UMMC she. He faces up to 10 years in prison for drug possession and trafficking in Russia.
