Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described the demonstration of the T-72 tank in Amsterdam as a “propaganda show”.
“We drew attention to another ugly propaganda performance that was dizzying with the cynicism of the Dutch authorities and went far beyond morality. And this time they managed to surprise not only us, but also the citizens of the Netherlands, ”says Zakharova “Moscow 24”.
Thus, on May 25, a T-72 tank was presented to the public at Leidseplein in Amsterdam, allegedly serving in the RF Armed Forces and allegedly shot down in March last year, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to Zakharova, the purpose of such an event is quite clear – to attract the attention of the public and show their support for Kiev.
But the reaction of the Dutch and journalists was the opposite: Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsem’s speech at the opening of the fair was interrupted by protesters who demanded the removal of the tank and the cessation of arms shipments to Ukraine. Some people started laying flowers in front of the tank in memory of the deceased.
There were also those who were openly confused about the goals of such a provocation, the official representative said, which clearly contradicted the ideas of “peace and “defense of democracy”, and was secretly called horror stories about the propaganda of the “Russian threat”. Added the Russian Foreign Ministry.
