Maria Zakharov said Moscow did not refuse to help Turkey in the negotiations
Moscow has never refused help from other countries, including Turkey, in organizing negotiations and meetings between the Russian and Ukrainian sides. This was stated at a briefing by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, the correspondent of Lenta.ru reports.
In principle, as the diplomat pointed out, Russia has never resisted initiatives by other countries to solve the Ukrainian crisis. At the same time, she stressed that these states could exert a more active influence on Kiev over the past eight years.
Overall, Zakharova positively assessed Turkey’s role in organizing such meetings, but stressed that “a meeting for meetings and an initiative for initiatives” will not allow the parties to agree on the most fundamental issues.
Earlier, an official foreign ministry representative confirmed Russian demands in negotiations with Ukraine, explaining that the sooner Kiev agrees to demilitarization and denazification, the sooner hostilities will end.
