Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin discussed state cooperation within the C5+1 format with US Deputy Secretary of State Uzra Zeya. They discussed this during a meeting on the sidelines of the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which will take place in Islamabad, TASS reports.
During the meeting, the parties outlined the importance of C5+1 activities and the development of bilateral cooperation within this format. It is noted that Mukhriddin and Zeya also discussed the prospects for bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States in various fields.
In addition, representatives of the two countries exchanged views on regional security issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.
The C5+1 format is a multilateral platform for US interaction with the five countries of Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The first meeting at the level of foreign ministers under the format took place in Samarkand in November 2015. Subsequently, foreign ministers of all six countries agreed to focus their efforts on three areas of common interest: security , economics and environmental issues.
