On the other hand, Rigoberta also talked about her iconic performance at Benidorm Fest, which is more complex than it might seem at first glance. The singer admits to her dissonant start in the semi-final: “At the beginning of the song in the semi-finals, it’s me, I felt very mismatched. I couldn’t set it up well. I came from a very serious sinusitis because of my nerves and being very serious”. He admits that he was disappointed when he saw the performance, but said, “I know I don’t go out of tune at concerts. I know I can set it up perfectly, but everything is new”.
Also in the final the in-ear (headphones for listening) stopped working: “I thought my panicky face would show, but then I watched the performance and said, “Damn, how well did I hide it?” I thought.
Beyond the details of the performance, Rigoberta also talks about Chanel’s unexpected victory and admits that the public is divided between her and Tanxugueiras:It was very shocking to me and difficult to manage. At the gala, there were many eurofans who started chanting “Rigoberta, Rigoberta” when Chanel won. On the one hand, I thought, “Wow, how strong, all these people are with me,” but at the same time, I felt so bad: it was so uncomfortable. The collision of these two worlds was sudden; Twitter itself was there, so I thought: If those 500 people shouted “Rigoberta”… If they were second, they would have shouted Tanxugueiras. Because eurofan, who had a very strong audience, was very divided between Tanxugueiras and us”.
