Consell intensifies negotiations with municipalities to secure mobile ITV

Trial period. This is how the Ministry of Economy is negotiating so that the mobile stations of the Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV) operating in the province of Alicante remain operational within the planned deadlines of February 25 and March 4, following the reversal of service. The goal pursued by the autonomous department, Change facilities in El Campello, Santa Pola and Calpthe owner company excludes the transfer and Subcontracting services in Elda, Novelda and Pilar de la Horadada.

The mobile stations were enabled by concessionaires to facilitate service during the hardest moments of the pandemic and have been operating uninterruptedly ever since. The problem now arose with the reversal as companies owned facilities so they would not fall into the hands of the Valencian ITV Association, the entity that would be responsible for public administration.

Thus, considering the threat of decommissioning a large area of the province, efforts have been intensified in recent days to find a solution. As the company’s director, Josep Albert Quilis explains, talks are currently underway with the municipalities of El Campello, Santa Pola and Calp to replace them, given the impossibility of transferring the facilities. “What we want – he explains – is to activate new stations, but for that we need them to give us some landbecause it is not certain that we will find them in the same place”.

The situation is different for Elda, Novelda and Pilar de la Horadada units, as they belong to the Orihuela and Redován concessionaires.Negotiations are made for the subcontracting of the service. These are two companies that received direct authorization from the Ministry of Industry at that time, so they will not be affected by the return. For this reason, an agreement is sought that prevents judicial conflict on the one hand and guarantees benefits on the other. “The goal is for mobile units connected to these companies to be part of the same solution,” Quilis says.

The public institution also works to replace approximately 1,000 workers in the dealer staff., with salaries that could reach around 46m euros per year as a whole, this would represent 15m euros than originally expected. But Quilis said, “We know what the cost of providing the service globally is. Now it’s about specifying the part on salaries that we’re ending the audit that should determine it.”
