The jury of the prize thus recognized “the long and fruitful career of an economist whose teachings were projected with exemplary generosity, both intellectually and morally, to several generations of economists, whose research was applied patiently and with an unbroken spirit.” Contemporary economic problems, combined with freedom and broad intellectual curiosity and a clear interdisciplinary dimension, the study of the historical and economic thought of Spain’s economic structure and economic policy, and the professional profession, the desire to find answers, are reflected in the continuous application of knowledge, advice and responsibility in the civil service of our economic administration. “.

Professor at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas for over ten years. He served as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Political and Economic Sciences.

When she dictated her memories to LA NUEVA ESPAÑA of the Prensa Ibérica group, she explained it this way: “I was always so formal. When I passed the competitive exams, Olariaga told me that he had found a position at Banco Hispanoamericano. No, I want to be a public servant; This is my job’ I believe I should now be the oldest public servant in Spain, in the sense that I entered in 1951 and continued constantly as I went from one position to another. I see in authority: one, being able to critically discuss anything one wants; two, to be able to put it in writing, and three, to be in the general interest only. I do not feel connected to private interests; I respect it and I think it is very good to act in the business world. I’ve only been on one board: at Banco de Crédito Industrial, an official bank.”

He was also rector of the Universidad Hispanoamericana Santa María de la Rábida (1974-1977).. It was there that the idea for La Granda Courses arose, with the support of Teodoro López Cuesta, the former rector of the University of Oviedo, and a place where various topics such as nuclear energy or scientific research could be discussed calmly.
