US authorities released one of the “most valuable” prisoners from Guantanamo Bay prison – Majid Khan, who spent more than 15 years in a maximum security prison in Cuba, went to Belize. This was reported by the Pentagon’s press service, reports TASS.
Accused in 2012 of aiding the al-Qaeda group (a banned organization in Russia), Majid Khan pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with US authorities. The Pentagon noted that during this time it was “fulfilling its promise of cooperation.”
The ministry stressed that Khan, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2021, was “serving his sentence”, but deducting the years he spent cooperating with the US authorities.
