Ministry of Interior denied data on non-refundation of fee for issuing new passports

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has denied the widespread information that the previously paid state duty will not be refunded when re-applying for a document valid for 5 years due to the suspension of the issuance of new types of international passports. It has been reported TASS.

According to Irina Volk, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the suspension of acceptance of new applications for the issuance of international passports with electronic storage media occurred for technical reasons beyond the control of the department.

Volk noted that the state duty for issuing a passport with an electronic chip will be refunded if the applicant refuses to receive public services.

On February 2, the Gosuslugi portal suspended accepting applications for the issuance of a new type of passport with a chip.

Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that the issuance of new passports is not suspended, the company Mikron, which produces electronic components for documents, is adjusting its technical processes against the backdrop of increasing demand.
