BI: Lambrecht, former head of the German Ministry of Defense, banned control of Leopard tanks before the meeting in Ramstein 18:51

Former German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht banned the inventory of Leopard tanks in service in the country a week before leaving her post. It has been reported business insider citing sources in the ministry.

“Just a week before her resignation, former Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht instructed her officials not to take the Bundeswehr’s inventory of Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks,” the report said.

According to sources, Lambrecht wanted to divert his suspicions about German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s reluctance to send tanks to Kiev, given the fact that “the number of battle-ready tanks could be interpreted by the Bundeswehr as being ready to supply them.”

Otherwise, Scholz would have had to “justify himself”, although he was expected to agree to send tanks to Ukraine at the meeting in Ramstein, Germany, according to Business Insider.

Former Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk complained To the fact that Germany has not yet made a decision on the supply of Leopard 2 tanks to Kiev.
