According to CNN’s news, citing sources at the Pentagon, the USA and Germany could not solve the problem of supplying tanks to Ukraine.
It was noted that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin did not pressure German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius to allow the supply of German Leopard tanks to Ukraine from Poland and other countries.
All Leopard tanks and other German weapons supplied to European and other armies are prohibited from being supplied to third countries without the permission of the German Ministry of Defense. However, German tanks were promised to fight the Russian army in Ukraine in Poland.
Pistorius had previously said that Germany would grant such permission only if the US allowed the delivery of M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. However, the Pentagon think Equipping Ukraine with Abrams tanks is very costly.
Former German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius declarationThe issue of coordination of the supply of German tanks by other countries will be decided on Friday, January 20.
