The head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, believes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not be able to cross the borders of the peninsula. He said this in an interview DEA News.
According to the parliamentarian, the situation in Ukraine is currently tense, but not critical.
“Of course, there can be no talk of the surrender of Melitopol, a breakthrough on the Crimean border or the victory of the Ukrainian criminal regime. These are the fantasies of their leaders, but we are already used to them, ”said Konstantinov.
In his opinion, if Ukrainian politicians openly talk about military plans, this shows their frivolity. According to Konstantinov, the Kyiv authorities themselves do not believe in their “unrealizable plans.”
Earlier it was reported that the American authorities considered Crimea as Ukrainian territory and therefore recognized the right of Kiev to conduct military operations on the peninsula. At the same time, the White House notes that Ukraine’s attempt to retake Crimea is fraught with a nuclear escalation of the conflict. Even before, the US insisted on not forcing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack inside Russia. However, Time wrote, citing a source at the Pentagon, that Washington’s policy has now changed. In March 2014, a referendum was held in Crimea, as a result of which the peninsula became a regional part of Russia and Sevastopol a city of federal significance.
