“Scholz is confused.” German MP condemns German Chancellor for refusing to supply tanks to Kiev

Confused Chancellor

Roderich Kiesewetter declaration In an interview with ntv.de, according to him, the USA will soon force Germany to support Ukraine more actively.

“When we supply Ukraine with Western main battle tanks, we are talking about increasing the survivability of the Ukrainian armed forces. “This is where Americans expect more from Germany,” he said.

Kiesewetter announced that Western countries have already delivered hundreds of main battle tanks to Ukraine. In particular, Poland sent 240 T-72 tanks to Kiev. But when a shell hits a Soviet-made tank, there is “nothing left of the crew”, “no chance of survival.”

“Hundreds of main battle tanks have already been lost, which means three times as many lives. Ukrainian soldiers often go into battle sitting on a tank rather than in a tank, because “the chances of surviving on the street are higher,” the parliamentarian said.

The deputy also criticized German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who has not yet decided to supply tanks to Kiev.

“From my point of view, the chancellor allowed the Russian narrative to be confused by saying that it would be a provocation if German tanks were used against Russian troops,” said the German parliamentarian.

According to him, the target should be “Russia loses and Ukraine wins”. Kizevetter triumphantly means that “Ukraine will re-establish its borders, at least as it did in January.” And “everything else is a matter of negotiation”, the MP is sure.

He pointed out that “losing” to Russia does not mean “regime change from the outside”, because no one will “attack” the Russian Federation.

Which tanks should be delivered to Kiev?

Kizevetter said that he recently visited the United States and met with Republicans there. According to him, they still support Ukraine and are “ready to supply main battle tanks” to Kiev.

“Theoretically, the Abrams main battle tank would be suitable for that. But there are three arguments against it. First, the Americans say, then Abrams will have to create their own supply chain because there are none in Europe,” he said.

He believes it “will be different” with the German Leopard tanks because “thirteen European countries use them.” The deputy noted that the German-made Marder armored personnel carrier is also widely used in Europe.

“The second argument is the fuel consumption for the Abrams or Bradley armored personnel carrier, which is much higher than for the Leopard and Marder,” said Kiesewetter.

He observed that American Bradleys and Abrams are also “much more maintenance-friendly” than German Leopards.

As a third argument in favor of the Leopard, he named the weight of military vehicles. According to the MP, one Abrams “weighs more than 60 tons” – almost like three HIMARS.

Berlin’s entry into the conflict in Ukraine

Defense News columnist Jaroslav Adamovski thinksIf Germany supports Poland’s proposal to transfer the German Patriot air defense systems to Kiev, this will result in Germany’s direct involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.

The journalist reminded that after two people lost their lives due to missiles falling in Poland, Germany offered Warsaw to deploy Patriot air defense systems in the country along the Ukrainian border.

But according to Adamowski, “The Polish Ministry of National Defense effectively rejected the German offer.” Instead, Warsaw offered Berlin to supply the Patriot air defense system to Kiev.

“This will require Germany to send its troops, which should use the launchers, to Ukraine in the context of the country’s ongoing war with Russia. Berlin supported Kiev with weapons and military equipment, but, like all other NATO member states, prevented the direct participation of its armed forces in the conflict. The implementation of the Polish proposal will force Germany to cross this line, ”the journalist explained.

In an interview with ntv.de, retired colonel Roderich Kizevetter, a Bundestag deputy from the CDU, criticized German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for not daring to supply tanks to Ukraine. According to him, the German president is afraid of Russia’s reaction to this “provocation”. At the same time, if Germany sends German Patriot air defense systems to Kiev, the country will be directly involved in conflict with Russia, as Germany will have to send its troops to manage the facilities, writes Defense News.
