In an international effort to spark young minds in the field of artificial intelligence, the jury of the Artificial Intelligence Challenge organized by Sber in partnership with Alliance announced the 15 winning teams. The competition drew participants from around the globe and showcased a wide spectrum of ideas from aspiring young researchers and developers. The decision highlighted projects that stood out for their creativity, feasibility, and potential impact across multiple domains. The announcement reflects a broader commitment to nurturing talent in Canada, the United States, and beyond, by recognizing work that blends curiosity with practical problem solving.
From the team phase onward, the strongest projects were carefully selected and refined to meet the criteria of the final task. A total of 45 teams, representing diverse continents, presented and defended their approaches to AI Challenge experts across five thematic areas: medicine, creative industries, efficient manufacturing, image and video analysis, and agriculture. In each domain, judges identified three standout teams whose work demonstrated clarity of problem framing, methodological rigor, and the potential to translate ideas into real-world value. This process underscored how young innovators can tackle complex questions by applying AI in meaningful ways.
Throughout the competition, 251 teams formed, and more than 2,300 solutions were developed as the team phase progressed. The most active area among entrants was Production, where participants aimed to design algorithms that analyze material order data to prevent supply interruptions and optimize logistics. This emphasis on operational analytics shows how AI can support manufacturing ecosystems by turning data into actionable insights, even at an early stage in a young researcher’s career. The breadth of approaches demonstrated by these teams highlights the versatility of AI across industries and the evolving skill set of new entrants to the field.
The award ceremony for the winners is planned to take place at the international Moscow event Artificial Intelligence Journey 2023. The conference will focus on the latest advances in science and AI, the role of technology in public initiatives and business development, and efforts to popularize STEM disciplines among youth. The gathering serves as a platform for recognizing notable student contributions while illustrating how government programs, industry leaders, and academic communities can collaborate to foster innovation and practical AI literacy for learners in North America and around the world. The event is documented by Sber in the context of global AI education efforts and the ongoing push to empower the next generation with hands-on computational tools.
