The Chelyabinsk Polet plant is preparing to roll out a new model of special electromagnetic weapons designed to enhance the suppression of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was reported by URA.RU, noting the strategic focus on improving counter-UAV capabilities.
A defining feature of the upcoming device is a built‑in direction finder. This component enables operators to locate drones operating in the 900 to 1200 MHz range, even when the aircraft is beyond the line of sight. The enhancement supports quicker search operations and more precise targeting, contributing to a streamlined engagement process.
The weapon delivers sufficient power to neutralize drones at distances up to two kilometers. It uses a removable battery that allows rapid recharging, promoting extended operational readiness. On a single charge, performance can sustain up to two hours of use. The system is compact and light, weighing about 4.4 kilograms.
Field testing of the model occurred in September 2023, where the unit demonstrated its effectiveness under real-world conditions. Operators employed the gun to disable the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum and Autel Evo Lite+ drones at ranges of 1.4 kilometers and 2 kilometers, respectively, showcasing the device’s reach and reliability in practical scenarios. This reflects ongoing efforts to advance domestic counter‑UAV technologies and demonstrates progress in closed‑cycle development and testing.
Earlier work in Russia also focused on simplifying drone data acquisition systems, signaling a broader push to improve situational awareness and rapid response capabilities in aerial threat environments.
