Elon Musk has announced a new project for his Starlink satellite network. The launch of second-generation satellites will begin in 2023, which will provide connectivity for 5G-enabled smartphones and Tesla electric vehicles.
This project is being carried out with the help of the American operator T-Mobile and the data exchange speed will be at the level of 2-4 Mbps. It is enough for communication in instant messengers and audio calls. If desired, you can even transfer videos in low quality or small files.
The idea is to provide communications where there is no coverage from cellular repeaters. In the first phase, such a connection will cover Hawaii, part of Alaska, Puerto Rico and the continental United States. In the future, other mobile operators interested in providing such services are expected to join the project.
