Xiaomi may introduce a new sub-brand or series of smartphones for technicians with “pure” Android, informs Mobile Indian portal with references to sources.
It is stated that the budget models will be equipped with the Snapdragon 765 chipset, while the more expensive models will be equipped with the Snapdragon 778. In addition, new brand smartphones will come with “pure” Android with minimal add-ons. Therefore, in the side-brand Xiaomi may abandon its proprietary MIUI shell.
Smartphones of the new sub-brand will be sold for 15 to 25 thousand rupees (from 11.2 to 18.8 thousand rubles) and will be assembled in India. In addition, Xiaomi will provide smartphones with three guaranteed Android OS updates and four years of security patch support.
Xiaomi has not yet commented on the news in the Indian media.
