Samsung will remove Z from the naming of Fold and Flip smartphones informs Android Authority portal. Koreans are expected to announce this during the Galaxy Unpacked presentation on August 10.

Thus, Samsung Galaxy Fold4 and Flip4 smartphones will be deprived of the letter Z in their name. The change will also affect the boxes that the devices are sent to. In particular, the letter Z will no longer appear on the boxes of Fold and Flip smartphones.

In March 2022, the media pointed out that in Eastern Europe, Samsung got rid of the letter Z in its Fold and Flip series. However, the company has not yet commented on the decision.

It is assumed that the rejection of the letter Z is due to Samsung wanting to simplify the naming of smartphones so that users can navigate between the company’s devices more easily.

The letter Z is applied to Russian military equipment involved in a military special operation in Ukraine. In Russia, this sign has become an unofficial symbol of support for the RF Armed Forces.

The Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event will take place on August 10. During the presentation, Samsung will introduce Galaxy Fold4, Flip4, Galaxy Watch5 smartwatches and other devices.
