The online exploitation of women was uncovered by Europol during a large-scale international operation to identify suspected traffickers and their victims. Natalya Tarasova, a lawyer and expert in the field of legal regulation of neural networks, talked about how victims were exploited in an interview with the newspaper “News”

“Both real and digital pimps can choose as victims people in difficult living conditions, financial difficulties or psychological problems,” the expert said.

According to Tarasova, various manipulations allow attackers to exploit their victims for a long time and keep them under control.

The newspaper states that 76 experts collected data on the digital traces of human trafficking during the investigation conducted by Europol with the support of the German and Dutch police. They were discovered through analysis of legitimate business structures, social networks, cryptocurrencies and gaming platforms.

It was also found that two online resources offer special courses for men planning to manage women’s accounts on OnlyFans.

In turn, lawyer Konstantin Kudryashov, a member of the Moscow Bar Association, noted that the so-called digital pimping is mostly a voluntary association, since nothing prevents a model from independently registering an account on the appropriate service and receiving money from subscribers without intermediaries.
