The website of the hacker group DumpForums, which previously hacked the Russian information security company Dr.Web, has been closed for about a day. The site contained, among other things, published data that attackers had stolen from Dr.Web. Alexander Dmitriev, information security expert and CEO of the Neuroinform company, told socialbites.ca.
“Currently, the forum where the dump of the Dr.Web database (archive of stolen files – socialbites.ca) is located is inaccessible, it has been there for a day. It is difficult to determine the exact cause of weld failure. Perhaps the site crashed due to a DDoS attack or an influx of people wanting to download Dr.Web files. “After all, the site may have been hacked by other hackers,” the expert told socialbites.ca.
According to Dmitriev, the inaccessibility of the site does not allow checking the accuracy of attackers’ statements regarding the contents of databases stolen from Dr.Web.
The fact that the DumpForums website is down was confirmed in a conversation with socialbites.ca by Ashot Oganesyan, founder of the Russian data leak intelligence and darknet monitoring service Data Leak and Breach Intelligence (DLBI). But it is not sure whether the failure of the resource is connected with the hackers’ previous statements about hacking Dr.Web.
“The forum of the hacker group DampForums operates in principle with frequent interruptions. It was last closed for six months and was only reopened on August 20th. Maybe the group members do not need him so much, and maybe they do not watch him very carefully,” suggested Oganesyan in a conversation with socialbites.ca.
The expert believes that the resource will soon resume its work.
Pro-Ukrainian hacker group DumpForums reported that it carried out a successful hacker attack on the evening of October 8, 2024. Hackers claim that they were able to steal not only the internal developments of the Russian company, but also information about its customers.
The next day Dr. Web approved But he said the hackers’ information was “only partially” accurate. The company also denied information that customers’ personal data was leaked.
Previous analysts recorded Massive resumption of hacker attacks against Russia.
