Power saving mode is designed to extend battery life. It extends the device’s operating time by disabling background programs, which is especially useful when the battery level is low. However, the head of the Roskachestvo Digital Expertise Center, Sergei Kuzmenko, warns that using this mode can slow down the smartphone.
“In Power Saving mode, your smartphone will likely run slower as some features and operations are limited or disabled. This affects app performance, longer loading times, and overall reduced device performance. Power saving may also limit access to some features and apps. For example, background updates and notifications from apps that are not designed to work in power-consumption-limited conditions may be disabled,” the expert noted.
Kuzmenko also noted that in energy-saving mode, the work of wireless connections slows down: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and mobile Internet. Therefore, instead of constantly using energy-saving mode, the expert recommends optimizing the settings of your smartphone by disabling unnecessary functions.
To extend the working time of your smartphone throughout the day, it is recommended to reduce the screen brightness, monitor background applications and, if necessary, turn on the power saving mode. However, it is worth remembering that some notifications may not reach you, so it is better to check them manually.
Roskachestvo experts also debunked the myth that charging a phone in energy-saving mode can damage the battery. In fact, turning on Power Saving while charging can be beneficial, as it reduces the device’s power consumption and speeds up the charging process, reducing the load on the battery and helping it cool down.
