Steam Deck users complain about a game crashing the console

On July 29, Jackbox Megapicker, a game that could cause serious problems on the Steam Deck console, was released on Steam. reports Tom’s Guide portal.

Jackbox Megapicker is a launcher for all Jackbox games, allowing you to view and launch games directly. However, as it turned out, it causes crashes in the Steam Deck system. Users reported that after installation, the consoles stopped booting and the only solution was to completely format and reinstall the SteamOS operating system.

The developers confirmed that the issue was with the Linux version of the launcher. The flaw does not appear when installing the Windows version and running it via Proton. In addition, the creators of Jackbox Megapicker promptly released a patch that force-installs the Windows version of the launcher.

“A fix has been released for the Jackbox Megapicker’s default Proton selection,” the developer message reads. They also advised Steam Deck owners to leave their compatibility settings as is to avoid similar issues.

There is no word on when a full-fledged fix will be released that includes a working version of the program for Linux.
