Apple is preparing to launch its new budget smartphone, the iPhone SE 4, which will use the screen of the previous iPhone 13 model to reduce production costs. BOE and LG will be the main suppliers of OLED panels for these devices. reports Wccftech broadcast.

In order to reduce the cost of the device, Apple has modified some of the display features of the iPhone 13 before loading them onto the iPhone SE 4. Specifically, this means the lack of support for ProMotion technology, less accurate colors and lower backlight brightness, which could negatively affect the performance of the device and the quality of the user experience.

According to sources, BOE has signed a contract with Apple to supply around 20 million OLED panels for the iPhone SE 4, an impressive figure considering that this phone is not expected to be the Cupertino IT company’s best-selling mainstream phone. Mass production of the iPhone SE 4 will probably start in October 2024, with the device set to be released in early 2025.

Tianma wants to be included in the list of display suppliers for the iPhone SE 4, along with LG and BOE. However, according to insider information, Apple is not yet ready to cooperate with the company due to the fact that the quality of its products is not high enough.
