The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris featured a parkour torchbearer whose attire referenced the Assassin’s Creed game. reports SBNation portal.

A torchbearer disguised as an assassin from the popular Assassin’s Creed game series by French company Ubisoft carried the Olympic flame across the rooftops of iconic Parisian landmarks representing different time periods. According to unconfirmed reports, the original plan was for the assassin to pass through the roof of Notre Dame Cathedral, but the idea was likely abandoned after the cathedral’s spire burned down.

In 2014, the game Assassin’s Creed Unity was released, dedicated to the French Revolution of 1789. The Parkour Torchbearer is supposed to be a character inspired by Unity’s hero Arno.

Although Ubisoft is a French company, Unity is the only part of a franchise of over 20 games in France. The game’s world also includes Russia in 1918, the US, Egypt, Italy, England, and many other countries and empires.
