Information about a sharp increase in the number of attacks by cybercriminals against Android smartphone users in Russia came from Kaspersky Lab. Dmitry Kalinin, the company’s cybersecurity expert, told the newspaper: “News”, It was stated that the number of attacks on mobile devices in the first quarter of 2024 increased 5.2 times compared to last year.

More than 19 million people were affected by hackers.

The most common cyber threats include Dwphon and Mamont viruses. Dwphon collects personal data of the device owner, information about applications and can download various software without the user’s consent.

Mamont, on the other hand, aims to defraud payment information and access SMS on the device.

The expert noted that some malware, including Dwphon, can be pre-installed on devices out of the box, making them especially dangerous for users. This means attackers can compromise the device’s supply chain by introducing malware at some point in production without the knowledge of the manufacturer or others in the chain.

Previously hackers was attacked Volkswagen.
