Mashable journalist Jolie Kerr said in her new article on the best and worst ways to clean penetrative sex toys.
Kerr says mild hand soap in the form of foam or body wash is the best option for cleaning vibrators.
“Wet the vibrator and sponge with warm water, apply soap to the sponge, and gently rub the toy for 20 seconds. Then rinse the vibrator with warm running water and dry it with a clean towel. That’s it!” – wrote the journalist.
You can also take a closer look at intimate hygiene products for sex toys, says Kerr. They are more expensive, but, as a rule, they are sold in convenient packaging that does not take up much space in your bag. The best travel option is special wet wipes, she believes. But Kerr strongly recommends not replacing a thorough wash with a napkin scrubbing.
The journalist emphasized that the basic rule in choosing the chemicals to be used in the treatment of sex toys is to avoid using substances that the person would not use to wash his genitals. For example, you should never wash your vibrator with bleach or degreasers and glass cleaners.
Exceptions to these rules include bar soaps and scrubs. If you rub the vibrator with soap, a layer may remain on it that cannot be washed off with a light stream. Scrubbing can damage the soft coating of the sex toy, and then bacteria begins to accumulate in the scratches.
