Apple plans to expand its range of branded headphones by releasing a more affordable AirPods model in 2024. In this respect reports MacRumors portal with link to analyst Jeff Pu.
According to the analyst, Foxconn’s India factory will increase AirPods assembly volumes in the last quarter of 2024, confirming early leaks about upcoming additions to Apple’s product line. Previously, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman announced that Apple plans to release two fourth-generation AirPods models with an updated design and improved sound quality in the fall of this year. Presumably one of the mid-range models will also feature active noise cancellation (ANC) and a built-in speaker for finding the charging case in the Find My app.
Jeff Pu also believes that the second-generation flagship full-size headphone AirPods Max will be released before the end of 2024. The first model went on sale at the beginning of 2020.
So far insiders are not ready to estimate and name the approximate cost of budget AirPods. The most affordable basic third-generation AirPods are priced at $170, while the second generation retails for $130. However, these models do not support active noise cancellation.
